Structure of Our ESOL Course

Our Courses are structured to cater for different proficiency levels, starting from Pre-Entry level (complete beginner) up to Level 2 (Advanced) focusing on reading, writing, speaking, and listening. There are additional courses that will help improve your skills in spelling, pronunciation or grammar.

Courses are offered in the daytime and evening with some Saturday courses available. Before you start the course, your level of English in reading, writing, speaking and listening will be assessed and you will be placed at the right level for you, with learners of the same ability.

The course typically includes:

  • 1 Assessment: Students are assessed at the beginning of the course to determine their current level of English Proficiency.
  • 2 Classroom instruction: Courses are mostly taught through a combination of classroom-based learning and practical exercises. This includes group discussions, role-playing, and interactive tasks to develop language skills.
  • 3 Examination: Our ESOL courses leads to examination or series of assessments. Successfully passing these course will lead to Certificate of Competence in ESOL.
  • 4 Progression Opportunities: After completing our ESOL courses, you can join our specialised courses that will prepare you for IELTS exams, which is often require for university admission.

ESOL means English for Speakers of Other Languages. ESOL courses are for people who speak English as a second language, and who are resident or permanently settled in the UK.

These courses help to increase the independence and develop the language skills you need for everyday life, employment, and further study.

Learners start from Pre-Entry level for those with little or no English and continue to Entry Level 1, 2, and 3 respectively.

Classes are organized in the mornings, afternoons, and evenings with some Saturday courses available.

There are several study options to meet your needs. You can start courses at different times in the year. You can join at various periods between September and early February if there are spaces available.

Entry Requirements

Both resident and permanently settled individuals in the UK are welcome to apply. International students can join for 6/11 months period on a visiting visa. You should discuss this with our Admission Officer.

All applicants will be initially assessed and interviewed to identify which course is suitable for them.

About

If you are aged 16-18, this English for Speakers of Other Language course is designed to give you extra support, assisting you to progress to higher level study or employment. You will improve in all areas of your English, whatever your starting level is.

We will also assist you develop your employability skills, with many of our students also having the opportunity to volunteers or gain work experience with us or one of our partners. Career guidance and discussions about your net step are an important component of the course.

You will receive several tutorials to support you.

ESOL course provide you with an insightful introduction to the English Language, covering all four skills- listening, speaking, reading, and writing. You will also improve your grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation.

You will also study “AI for Beginners” as part of the course.

Coursework

Your skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing will be assessed through examinations, and your tutor will advise whether you have the skills needed to pass your examinations.

You will also take a qualification in “Artificial Intelligence for Beginners”.
