Introduction

The threat of emerging and re-emerging infectious pathogens has led to the field of infection biology becoming an exciting and challenging field. Infectious agents such Influenza virus, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Nipah virus, Neisseria gonorrhoea, SARS, COVID-19, etc continue to ravage the globe. Therefore continuous increasing our knowledge on the evolutionary trend, pathogenesis, treatment and developing novel preventive strategies is highly essential. The aim of this course is to equip learners with current diagnostic tool, treatment, and preventive strategies of infectious diseases. Also various aspects of pathogenesis and drug resistance mechanisms of ID would be covered.
Programme Outcome
After completing this course, participants should:

  • Be equipped with fundamental understanding of the science, biology and detection of pathogens along with immune response to them
  • Develop broad core knowledge, understanding and awareness of the scientific and medical background of infectious diseases.
  • Develop skills on performing comprehensive review of relevant literature through critical thinking and analysis
  • Easily demonstrate the principles of data analysis, dissemination of results and implementation of key finding.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of how specialist knowledge in clinical microbiology and infectious diseases as applied to treatment and management of infectious diseases.
  • Develop professional ethics necessary for conducting research.
  • Develop oral and written communication skills and demonstrate the ability to interact and work effectively with others in work settings

Resilience Through Challenges

The departure of a founding director in 2019 coincided with the global onset of COVID-19. During this period, AHRO-Scotland was established as AHRO Scientific Publishing Company, primarily focusing on journals and books, including vital COVID-19 health promotion publications. Despite internal challenges leading to the dissolution of AHRO-Scotland, the organization persevered.

Individual Modules

Studying individual modules is an ideal option if you wish to update your knowledge. You can discuss this with the Course Director
