    The Director-General of AHRO holds the ultimate responsibility for the leadership and strategic direction of the organization. This includes developing AHRO’s scientific and academic strategies, as well as maintaining effective communication with AHRO’s partners. The Director-General reports directly to the AHRO Board of Trustees and plays a pivotal role in implementing the organization’s research and academic priorities. Key responsibilities of the Director-General include: Leadership and Strategy: Overseeing the establishment and coordination of research and academic programs across AHRO, ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission and priorities. Partnership Development: Strengthening and expanding relationships with AHRO’s network of partners, including governmental and non-governmental organizations, as well as funding agencies. Policy Influence: Utilizing evidence-based research to influence policies that advance global health initiatives. Resource Mobilization: Securing resources to support the organization’s activities and long-term sustainability. The Director-General’s Office comprises a dedicated team that provides scientific and administrative support, facilitates strategic engagement, drives resource mobilization efforts, and fosters external partnerships to advance AHRO’s mission. This role is central to AHRO’s efforts to promote evidence-based research, build collaborative networks, and contribute to the advancement of global health.

    Professor Yaro is a Molecular Virologist and Infectious Diseases Scientist who possess Masters in MSc (infectious Diseases), MSc (Molecular Microbiology), Sc (Infection Biology-Specialising in Virology), PhD (Clinical Microbiology) and DSc (Emerging Infectious Diseases). Since 1997, he focused his entire career to the advancement and dissemination of scientific knowledge.
